Shipping and Handling Information

Here you will find general information about sending your camera to MCVR and our return shipping policies and options:

First of all, here is our shipping address:

MCVR
641 East Brockway Ave.
Morgantown, WV 26501

Shipping your camera is easy!

The easiest way for most people to ship their camera is via the US Post Office.  We recommend Priority Mail because the tracking system is reliable.  Labels and cartons are available at no charge at the Post Office.  If you need packaging material (such as bubble wrap or Styrofoam peanuts), these are available at a nominal cost.  You can also print labels, pay for shipping with a credit card, and have the package picked up by your mail carrier by setting up an account at www.usps.com.

We do not recommend Express Mail unless you are are in an extreme hurry.  The cost is considerably higher.  We do not recommend spending the extra money for delivery confirmation unless you are sending an item of great value.  Regular Parcel Post will save a couple of dollars, but delivery is sometimes much slower and there is no tracking.

If you have convenient access to UPS, FedEx, or DHL, these are also reliable carriers.  Many office supply stores and copy shops offer packaging and shipping services.  They will pack the carton for you and handle all the details.  Of course, this value-added service does cost extra.

Contact information for shipping services:

  • UPS: (800)-PICKUPS (742-5877) or www.ups.com
  • FedEx: (800)=GOFEDEX (463-3339) or www.fedex.com
  • US Postal Service: Call your local Post Office or www.usps.com

Guidelines for packaging your camera:

  • Use a sturdy carton, strong tape, and padding (bubble wrap, Styrofoam peanuts, crumpled newspaper, etc).  We recommend at least two inches of padding on all sides.
  • If there are multiple items in the package, make sure they are individually wrapped and protected from banging together.  This is a common source of damage.
  • Assume that the package will be dropped onto a hard surface from chest or shoulder height and pack accordingly.
  • Make sure that the only label on the package is the one addressed to MCVR.
  • Attach <this printable repair form> or a note with the following information:
    • Your daytime telephone number (so we can contact you if we encounter a question or a problem)  If you prefer to be contacted via email, please indicate this and include an email address.
    • Your return shipping address
    • A brief description of the problem
    • Any estimate you found on this website or were given over the telephone or via email.

Return shipping:

We will contact you when the repair is complete to arrange for payment and return shipping.  We will verify the address at that time.  We normally use USPS Priority Mail or UPS ground services for return shipping.  The cost is usually $9-10 for most locations in the continental US.  Shipment to AK, HI, and PR are always sent via Priority Mail, unless you want to pay an additional fee for UPS Second Day Air.

Items that are unusually heavy or require additional insurance will cost slightly more

UPS Next Day or Second Day Air services are also available, at an additional cost.

If you need to receive your package at a Post Office box, we can ship it via Priority Mail.

We can ship to APO and FPO addresses via Priority Mail.  There is an additional fee of $3, because these shipments must be delivered to the Post Office in person.

We can ship outside the US, using Global Priority Mail.  The cost and reliability of delivery depends upon the location.  <call us or send an email> for details.

We can charge the return shipping to your UPS of FedEx account, but doing so will not save you any money and is actually more trouble for us. We add a $2 handling fee to the repair cost when the shipping is charged to your account.

There are no return shipping charges on warranty repairs.
